Starting January 1, 2018, the PE Chemical Exam is being administered via computer-based testing (CBT). Beginning in November 2017, approved examinees will be able to register and schedule PE Chemical exam CBT appointments, available year-round starting January 2018.
The PE Nuclear exam transitioned to CBT in October 2018. Unlike many of the CBT exams to date, the Nuclear CBT exam will be a single-day testing event each year. Beginning in February 2018, approved examinees will be able to register and schedule for the one-day only PE Nuclear exam CBT appointment.
The PE Environmental exam had its last paper administration in October 2018. Beginning in late November 2018, approved examinees will be able to register and schedule PE Environmental exam CBT appointments, available year-round starting April 1, 2019.
While the Board anticipates a much shorter turnaround time for new CBT PE Application reviews, applicants wanting to take the exam should still provide their application to the Board at least 90 days in advance of their desired examination date. Please visit the NCEES website for more information about the new CBT PE Exams, in addition to reviewing the document in the table below entitled “NCEES PE Chemical CBT Exam Information”.
The NCEES website has been updated to show additional information regarding the FE and PE exam transition to CBT, including the projected schedule for the remaining PE exams. Please feel free to visit https://ncees.org/cbt for details.
